The Role:
This Director owns enterprise-wide data and AI governance at Cadent, reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer. The scope runs from policy creation and ethical review through the AI Governance Center of Excellence, to embedding controls into the full AI lifecycle alongside Engineering and Product. The role also covers data management disciplines including data quality, metadata, master data, and retention. Authority extends to advising the Executive Committee and setting the risk tiers and approval pathways that govern how AI use cases move from ideation to deployment.

Responsibilities
◦ Design and operationalize an enterprise-wide governance framework for data and AI, including policies, standards, and operational procedures
◦ Lead the AI Governance Center of Excellence, establishing the central body for policy creation, ethical review, and cross-functional decision-making
◦ Identify, assess, and mitigate AI-related risks including model bias, data privacy, cybersecurity, and third-party vendor exposure
◦Define risk tiers and approval pathways for AI use cases and ensure alignment with GDPR, CCPA, and the EU AI Act
◦ Partner with Engineering, Product, and business leaders to embed governance controls across the full AI lifecycle from ideation through deployment and monitoring
◦ Support, drive, and monitor data management implementation across data quality, metadata, master data, retention, and storage
◦ Report to the Executive Committee and senior leadership on AI risk, ethics, governance KPIs, and program maturity
◦ Develop and deliver training and awareness programs that build a culture of data accountability and responsible AI use across the organization
Requirements
◦ 10 or more years of experience in data governance, technology risk, data strategy, or a directly related field
◦ Demonstrated track record of implementing governance programs in complex, high-growth technology environments
◦ Strong working knowledge of AI and ML concepts, modern data architecture, and associated risk areas including bias, explainability, and security
◦ Expert-level familiarity with global data privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA
◦ Experience advising senior and executive leadership on AI risk and governance decisions
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and build consensus across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
◦ Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
